Alimony, or maintenance, is a legal obligation that one spouse can be ordered to make to the other spouse, usually the chief provider of the marriage, upon a legal separation or divorce. In Illinois, the statute on maintenance involves a spouse being allowed to receive support in the lifestyle to which they were accustomed to during marriage. Attorney Martin Osinski understands that it is much more difficult to manage two households in the same way that one was managed, and it can be difficult for all families to continue enjoying the lifestyle they were accustomed to while still providing for their children.

The court uses different criteria to establish how much and for how long alimony needs to be paid and there is not a set formula that Illinois courts use to determine maintenance. Family attorney, Martin Osinski, will be able to conduct a lifestyle analysis in which he will analyze cash flow, income, and tax consequences so he will be able to help his clients receive the best spousal support, either through settlement negotiations or a trial. He helps his clients by thoroughly going over their financial information and preparing them for what line of questioning they may go through at a trial, deposition or during a settlement negotiation.
